On the outskirts of Agrigento, a town in southern Sicily can be found the best preserved Greek temples outside of Greece.
The Valley of Temples has been photographed innumerable times in innumerable ways. The challenge for myself as a lifestyle and travel photographer, was to convey my feelings and awe of the environment, from this starting point I achieved something that is both striking and on a personal level accomplished
Founded as a Greek colony in the 6th century BCE, Agrigento became one of the leading cities in the Mediterranean region. Its supremacy and pride are demonstrated by the remains of the magnificent Doric temples that dominate the ancient town, much of which still lies intact under today's fields and orchards. The site has been inhabited throughout the ages by Hellenistic, Roman and Christian settlers.
